Dear Montbello community,
I am humbled as well as honored to serve as the principal of the new Montbello high school. I recognize this job as a commitment. It’s a commitment to our community, our students, their families, our staff and most importantly, it is a commitment to excellence. This commitment is long overdue and our students deserve nothing less, which is why it is so important that we get this right, that we do right by our community and that we do right by our students.
I am confident that my experiences as an athlete, educator, a leader and a principal all demonstrate that I have the skills and values needed to build a high school that will serve as a hub to our community. A school that thrives on relationships and trust, high expectations for the students and staff and restores traditions and pride in our community. I know as I lead our charge,I will need to be successful in this endeavor as I think about how important it is we get this right.
I have been serving students for 22 years in public education as a teacher, coach and leader. This is hard work but it’s the right work and needs a level of experience that understands what it takes to lead a high achieving comprehensive high school. I am committed to Montbello high school and our community for the long run. I have a track record of longevity, the work we have done at Collegiate Prep Academy has led to high levels of success for students in the Montbello community and I would like to expand upon this work on a larger scale so that all kids in Montbello have opportunities to succeed. This work includes high expectations both inside and outside the classroom to prepare our students to choose from a variety of career and post-secondary options.
Students will play an active role in all of the aspects of their schools to the point that they’re also best prepared to influence their communities and college campuses upon graduation. One of the most important partnerships that will be executed at Montbello high school is the one between me and our student leaders. I believe together, we lead our school. I guarantee you, Montbello students will positively represent our community wherever they land.
As a values-based leader, I ground my work in the belief that all students deserve the very best and are at the forefront of every decision. It will be my responsibility to advocate and fight for social justice, to challenge social cultural and economic inequities that have been imposed on our community and to re-establish pride, spirit, and trust. I am ready to be a voice and advocate for each student in our high school and lead everyone in our school community to reach the highest of goals. Let’s go Warriors!

Me siento humildemente honrada de servir como nueva directora de la Escuela Preparatoria Montbello. Reconozco que este trabajo representa un compromiso. Es un compromiso con nuestra comunidad, nuestros estudiantes, sus familias, nuestro personal y, lo más importante, un compromiso con la excelencia. Este compromiso debería haberse asumido hace mucho tiempo y nuestros estudiantes no merecen sino lo mejor, por lo que es tan importante que lo hagamos correctamente; que hagamos lo correcto para nuestra comunidad y nuestros estudiantes.
Estoy convencida de que mi experiencia como deportista, educadora líder y directora demuestra que tengo las destrezas y valores necesarios para crear una escuela preparatoria que sea el núcleo de nuestra comunidad. Una escuela que prospere gracias a las relaciones, la confianza y las altas expectativas para los estudiantes, y que restablezca las tradiciones y orgullo en nuestra comunidad. A medida que lidere nuestro cambio, tendré que lograr esta meta, porque sé lo importante que es que lo hagamos.
Durante 22 años, he servido a los estudiantes como maestra, entrenadora y líder en la educación pública. Es una labor difícil pero es la labor correcta, y necesita un nivel de experiencia que comprenda lo que hay que hacer para liderar una escuela preparatoria integral y de alto rendimiento. Mi compromiso para con la Escuela Preparatoria Montbello y nuestra comunidad es a largo plazo. Cuento con una larga trayectoria; el trabajo que hemos hecho en la Academia Collegiate Prep nos ha llevado a lograr altos niveles de éxito para los estudiantes de la comunidad de Montbello y me gustaría realizar esta labor a mayor escala para que todos los niños de Montbello tengan oportunidades para triunfar. Esta labor incluye altas expectativas, tanto dentro como fuera del salón de clases, a fin de preparar a nuestros estudiantes para que elijan entre una variedad de profesiones y opciones pospreparatorias.
Los estudiantes jugarán un papel activo en todos los aspectos de su escuela, al punto en que también tengan la mejor preparación para afectar positivamente a sus comunidades y su campus cuando se gradúen. Unas de las alianzas más importantes que forjaremos en la Escuela Preparatoria Montbello es la alianza entre nuestros estudiantes líderes y yo. Creo que, juntos, lideraremos nuestra escuela. Les garantizo que los estudiantes de Montbello representarán positivamente a nuestra comunidad estén donde estén.
Como líder con base en los valores, mi trabajo se encuentra arraigado en la convicción de que todos los estudiantes merecen lo mejor de lo mejor y de que son el factor más importante a la hora de tomar cada una de las decisiones. Mi responsabilidad será abogar y luchar por la justicia social a fin de enfrentar las desigualdades socioculturales y económicas que se han impuesto a nuestra comunidad y restablecer el orgullo, el espíritu y la confianza. Estoy lista para apoyar y abogar por cada uno de los estudiantes de nuestra escuela preparatoria y para liderar a todos los miembros de la comunidad escolar a fin de que logren sus metas más elevadas. ¡Adelante, guerreros!
